Here is the poem as read by Regan Dunn (click on the link at the bottom to see the whole poem)
Half dressed and half awake your tired eyes
Looking, burning in the heat of midday
Done, cooked and finished your heartbeat keeps time with mine
As your corneas pulsate in your early awake
Lost for you I’m so lost for you
Oh and your fluttering eyelashes
Lost for your sunglasses, lost on the train
Made me a man in the compartment,
Never saw the same,
Never tasted the same food
Dreamed the same dreams
Saw me, with you underneath
And I come into you in a boys dream
Still lying there your auburn hair shines bright in the sun
Still burning your eyes.
Still lost in dreams I dreamt when I was awake
Take in one sigh, one breath, one break, from all this
Oh from you and just
Hack up your skirt a little more and show your world to me
City sidewalks melt my recycled rubber soul
Someone to save the environment but who’s here for
My heart’s habitat?

Community Slam
Firstly, congratulations to all the readers for making the December Open Mic so amazing. I am waiting on the digital versions of the poems, so please email them to me so that we can get them up.
As well, a little bird named "ahsas" let me know that there is a community slam going on a Cabin 12 on Tuesday Decemeber 15 in the evening. This is merely a public service announcement to let people know and is not supported nor sanctioned by the school. However, if you are enjoying the lunch hour Open Mics, then speak with your parents about attending this Slam. Be forewarned, that this is a community event and thus the topics covered are, well, various.
